BC 6, Merrimack 1 – Notebook

*J.C. Robitaille scored his third goal of the season in tonight’s loss. All three goals have come on the PP.

*Pat Watson could be blamed for one of the eight goals he allowed over the two games. The third goal tonight the defenseman (and I can’t remember who) made a nice play on the two-on-one to give Watson a good view of the shot. Other than that, I really cannot blame him for the other seven as he appeared to be left hung out to dry.

*Joe Loprieno is quietly becoming one of the better defensemen on the team.

*Andrew Braithwaite looked good at times, but also rusty at times when he took over for Watson in the third period. He last appeared in a 5-0 loss at UNH in November.

* BC could have played the entire third period without a goalie and still won the game. Merrimack trailed 4-1 entering the final frame and got outshot 11-2 in the period. For those of you who are not math majors, that would mean that even if the Warriors scored on both of their shots, BC would have won 4-3 (or 6-3 if you add the goals they scored in the period).

*Without the numbers in front of me, this could be the closest game in terms of faceoffs all season. BC won by a slim margin 38-36.

The three Warriors of the game:
3) Pat Kimball – had another assist tonight.
2) J.C. Robitaille – scored this goal of the season
1) Mickey Rego – Didn’t get pushed around despite his -2. Flew all over the ice and didn’t shy away from the physical game, including against the 6’7, 250lb Brian Boyle (Rego is listed at 5’9, 165lbs)
